The Chroma 87001 Battery Cell Simulator is a highly precise, programmable, bidirectional DC power source that functions as both a voltage and current source. It can serve as a multi-channel DC power supply or an electronic load, with a single simulator offering 16 channels for independent voltage and current settings via Chroma software. This simulator is ideal for testing lithium-ion batteries in a safe environment, thanks to its integrated battery management system (BMS) and its subsystems, which cater to battery cells used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
The simulator features voltage-isolated channels capable of simulating a 480-cell battery pack (2000V/4.2V) in series, allowing it to replicate the power characteristics during charging and discharging. Each channel provides adjustable voltage (0~5V) and bidirectional current (0~5A) functions, with serial and parallel capabilities for increased current through paralleled channels. The BMS can perform short-circuit simulation tests directly, even with cable lengths up to 5 meters. Additionally, the simulator can operate independently with user development software or be integrated into a fully functional BMS test system for automated testing. It includes various protection features, such as overcurrent, overvoltage, and undervoltage protections, ensuring a safe testing environment.
